At about 6 p.m. on Wednesday night, Windham firefighters rushed to free a woman trapped in her Mercury sedan after it flipped on impact with a red minivan at the North Windham Shopping Plaza entrance on Route 302. Bystanders looked on as a crew of firefighters fought to open the car doors and eventually retrieved the woman through the back window. The woman, whose identity has not been released, was rushed to Maine Medical Center. The passengers in the red minivan were not injured. The accident caused a traffic snarl with northbound motorists being diverted off Route 302 at the intersection of routes 115 and 35. Staff photo by Douglas Wright
