Because of poor ice conditions, MUSH Committee Chair Mike Friedman announced earlier this week that all previously scheduled events at this weekend’s Mushers Bowl in Bridgton have been delayed to March 17-19.
The mid-March weekend was chosen by the dogsled racing league – the main focus of the annual event on Highland Lake – as the next possible time.
Harvest Hills Animal Shelter has agreed to follow the committee’s lead and has likewise postponed their annual Freezin’ for a Reason to Saturday, March 18.
The races have been called off due to site conditions. The racing association has offered us the weekend of March 18 and 19 to hold the racing event.
In Naples, the warm weather has also caused the delay of the Naples Winter Carnival, originally scheduled for Feb. 10 and 11. The carnival will be held next weekend, Feb. 17 and 18, instead.
