In reverence to little Sacarappa Park, it is now time for our citizens to put some input on suggesting the many ways we can make this people friendly, portray Westbrook’s heritage, and make this a resting spot for the users of our Riverwalk.

Since most of us have discussed the need for citizens to have input in our city procedures, this is a fine opportunity to give us your ideas.

As I stated previously – a sheltered area such as a gazebo, a sheltered area with benches for inclement weather, walking paths throughout, with bricks as a base – the bricks could have names of the citizens of Westbrook – such as the veterans in Riverside Park.

Some other ideas for the park, have walking areas for folks pushing baby carriages, a drinking fountain; a summer time snack area to blend with the surroundings; the city’s heritage portrayed on stone and plant dwarf trees and flowering perennials in the park. The snack area could sell snacks as well as T-shirts and caps with Westbrook logos, depicting Westbrook’s heritage.

The park could also have an audio system capable of playing music and stories for the youth. This can be a drawing spot for walking citizens on a pleasant summer’s day.

Many that have visited the Longfellow House in Portland may recall the enchantment of it’s small outside gardens and resting areas. Let’s make Westbrook a place to come to visit.

Perhaps we could form a committee to discuss the many ideas, and have our talented Forestry Department draw sketches we may portray.
