What is wrong with this picture?
There is a couple here in Windham who applied for fuel assistance. They get $19,200 from Social Security, and they got a full tank of oil. I get $7,300 from Social Security. I applied for fuel assistance, and they only gave me enough to fill 45 gallons of oil.
Anyone that gets $19,200 from Social Security with that kind of money shouldn’t even get fuel assistance. Now, do you call that fair? It’s like the old saying: Take away from the poor and give to the rich.
And I imagine there are other people out there that are in the same boat that I am in. And if you are going to fill the tank of one couple, you should do it for everyone who applies for fuel assistance.
