Veterans
Mr. Robin Shepard, State of Maine Veterans Advocate, will be at the veterans center Feb. 8 from 9 to 11 a.m. He will be assisting veterans in applying for benefits. There is no charge and no appointment is necessary.
Thank You
Many thanks go to all the people who donated pet food at the Kennel Shop on Saturday, Jan. 28, to benefit the Windham Food Pantry. The Food Pantry is very appreciative of the donations it receives and the food is always put to good use. Once again, the Kennel Shop was a huge help in aiding with the donations. Thank you to everyone.
Meeting
There will be a VFW meeting Feb. 15 at 7 p.m. at the Windham Veterans Center. This will be for people interested in joining.
Windham Drifters
From Feb. 3 through 5, there will be the Pine Tree Camp Ride in Newport, Maine. On the fourth of the month, there will be a safety check and bonfire from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. behind Richardson’s Skidoo. Also on the Feb. 4, there will be an all-day poker run and local club ride starting at the club shed at Richardson’s.
Library
There is still some artwork by Artist Varvara Harmon on display at the Windham Public Library. This display will go until the end of April. She was born and raised in Russia but has been a resident of Windham for several years. Her works include, photography, oils, acrylics, watercolors, pen and inks and prints.
Award
Karen Thompson, formerly of Windham, the daughter of Dick and Beverly Jensen, was named the “Business Woman of the Year” by the Sebago Lakes Region Chamber of Commerce. Karen owns Downeast Engraving. The event took place on Jan. 24 at Montebello Ristorante in Raymond.
Home
Harriet Haskell, daughter of Clayton and Kathy Haskell, was home from Tennessee, Jan. 30 until Feb. 2. She is doing an internship there at the Silver Bullet Cattle Company. When she returns to Tennessee they will then take some animals to the State Fair in Tampa, Florida.
Recovering
Clarence Wisecup is now home after having hip revision at Maine Medical Center Jan. 23. He is recovering very nicely and doing well.
