Mailhot, Laverriere engagement
Marc and Kathleen Mailhot of Westbrook have announced the engagement of their daughter, Allison Kathleen Mailhot, to Joshua James Laverriere of Arundel.
The bride-to-be graduated from Westbrook High School in 2002 and also graduated from Headhunters in Portland. She is currently employed at Hair Excitement.
Laverriere is the son of Norman and Theresa Laverriere of Arundel. The groom-to-be graduated from Biddeford High School in 2002 and Central Maine Technical College. He works for Portland Volvo.
A September wedding is planned.
Post 62 to meet
The Stephen W. Manchester Post 62 of the American Legion will meet at 6 p.m. today (Feb. 1) in the post headquarters at 17 Dunn St.
A catered chicken alfredo meal will be served. It will include a tossed salad, buttered noodles and peas with gingerbread and whipped cream for dessert. $8.
Starr named chair of the year
Donald E. Starr, senior advisor for Westbrook-based general contracting firm CCB, Inc., was named 2005 Chair of the Year by Associated Constructors of Maine.
He was honored for his chairmanship of the association’s Goals & Objectives Committee last year. Starr, who also served as 2000 ACM President, was recognized for spearheading efforts to update ACM’s Strategic Plan, stabilize the chapter budget, and realign its dues structure. “Leading those efforts required a great deal of commitment to ACM and its members,” said John Sturgeon in presenting the award. “Don’s unique blend of institutional knowledge, wisdom and patience played a pivotal role in the Goals & Objectives Committee’s success.”
Chartered in 1951, ACM is a state chapter of The Associated General Contractors of America and represents the interests of more than 250 construction firms and related businesses throughout Maine. The not-for-profit trade association is dedicated to ensuring a healthy construction industry and providing the public with an assurance of the skill, responsibility and integrity of ACM-member firms.
Knights business meeting
The fourth degree Knights of Columbus Westbrook Assembly 356 will hold their monthly business meeting at 7 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 6, at St Mary’s Parish hall.
Heather Cote on dean’s list
Heather Cote has been named to the dean’s list for the fall semester at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Conn.
Joseph Cote excels at Keene
Keene State College in Keene, N.H., has named Joseph P. Cote to the dean’s list for the past semester.
Chapman on dean’s list
Katelyn M. Chapman, a freshman at the University of Tampa, made the dean’s list.
Chapman is a 2005 graduate of Westbrook High School. She is the daughter of Jeffrey and Roxanne Chapman.
Bem, Neelon honored
Two students from Westbrook have been named to the dean’s list for the fall semester at Roger Williams University in Bristol, R.I.
They are: Greg Bem, a sophomore majoring in creative writing and English literature, and Courtney Neelon, a sophomore majoring in communications.
Cutter on dean’s list
Vanessa A. Cutter has been named to the dean’s list at the University of Maine at Orono.
A graduate of Westbrook High School in 2004, Cutter is majoring in broadcast journalism. She is the daughter of Douglas and Anna Cutter.
Trobisch to speak
David Trobisch will be in the pulpit on Sunday, Feb. 5, at the Westbrook Universalist Church, 719 Main St.
