Bergeron, Johnston engaged

Andy and Maureen Bergeron of Westbrook have announced the engagement of their daughter, Maeghan Bergeron, to James Johnston of Lyman.

The bride-to-be graduated from Westbrook High School in 1999 and also graduated from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Worcester, Mass. She is currently employed at TD Banknorth.

Johnston is the son of Bruce and Joanne Johnston of Lyman. The groom-to-be graduated from Massabesic High School in Waterboro and Central Maine Technical College. He works for Pratt & Whitney.

An October wedding is planned.

Seniors to hear Sixty Plus

The Sixty Plus Band will entertain when the Westbrook Senior Citizens meet at 1 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 6, at Westbrook-Warren Congregational Church, 810 Main St.

The seniors are planning two trips in March. On March 8, they’ll travel to Foxwoods in Connecticut. Then on St. Patrick’s Day, March 17, they’ll go to the show Forever Irish, starring Andy Clooney and dancers from Ireland, at Venus di Milo in Swansea, Mass.

Bosse, Cyr engaged

James and Janet Bosse of Westbrook, along with Robert and Joyce Cyr of Winterville and Chipley, Fla., are pleased to announce the engagement of their children, Karen Bosse and Christopher Cyr.

Karen Bosse is a graduate of Westbrook High School. She is the assistant town clerk for the town of Cumberland.

Christopher Cyr is a graduate of Fort Kent Community High School. A veteran of the U.S. Marines, Cyr is a Maine State Trooper assigned to Troop K in Augusta.

They are planning a wedding in October.

Westbrook Inaugural Gala

The city of Westbrook will hold its inaugural gala on Saturday, Feb. 11, from 6 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. at Centurion Banquet Center on Larrabee Road.

Tickets are $50, which includes hors d’oeuvres and a buffet dinner with prime rib and lobster newburg. The Bob Charest Band will provide the music for dancing.

Historians to see magician

Bob Nixon of Auburn will present a program about magic when the Westbrook Historical Society meets at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 1 at 17B Dunn St.

A business meeting will precede the program. Refreshments will be served and the public is invited to attend.

Local students excel at Saint Joseph’s

Four students from Westbrook have been named to the dean’s list for the fall semester at Saint Joseph’s College in Standish.

They are: Jennifer Caron, Nicole LaFlamme, David Morse and Stephanie Neales.

Bergeron on dean’s list

Lauren Bergeron, daughter of Andy and Maureen Bergeron, has been named to the dean’s at Saint Anselm College in Manchester, N.H. for the fall semester. A senior, she is majoring in nursing.
