The 35-member Sebago Lake Rotary Club has a Herculean task ahead executing the 2006 Derby Fest from Feb. 24 to 26. Fortunately, they won’t have to do it alone.
“We have more than 100 volunteers helping out this year. From the Maine Correctional Center to corporate board rooms,” said Tom Noonan, event director.
Noonan credits the tireless world of these volunteers plowing, directing traffic, grooming cross-country ski and snowmobile trails, in addition to countless other tasks.
“People always give the praise to leaders, but we couldn’t put this on without the dedication of the volunteers,” Noonan said.
Volunteers are still needed, however. If you would like to volunteer, call 1-888-ICE FLAG.
