I am positive that the majority of the readers saw our governor in Windham promoting the so-called discounted oil from his socialist friend from Venezuela, which has an unemployment of more than 17 percent while 47 percent of the population live in poverty. I personally feel that our governor is selling his soul for political gain while suffering from optical rectification.

First and foremost, I thank the governor for telling the truth which is something the Windham School Board couldn’t do. I personally thank him for showing that Windham does have poor citizens. Remember when a member of the School Board stated that there were no poor citizens in this town?

So, let’s cut to the chase. Why does our governor take credit for helping the poor when the only thing he appears to be doing is showing up for ribbon cuttings and handouts? Why did he spend almost one-half-of-a-million dollars for an out-of-state study to discover what is wrong with Maine and its economy? It is obvious that our governor has no leadership qualities and that he is nothing but an embarrassment, at least in my opinion.

Now for the difficult discussion about our governor and why I consider him a traitor. That’s right folks, a traitor. First of all, anyone who is looking for political gain by sucking up to a known enemy of the United States is no friend of mine. Our governor sucked up to two such despicable characters recently while blaming his shortcomings on the President of United States. Our governor is showing his leadership qualities by leading our state down a path of trickery and deceit by such political hooligans as El Presidente of Venezuela and Comandante of Cuba.

Can you imagine that our governor stated the reason for his low ratings was the fault of the President of the United States? He also hinted that the reason that Mainers needed more food stamps and fuel assistance was because of President Bush, even though more federal aid was allocated. What has John Baldacci promised us? He promised no new tax increases while he increased many fees across the board to the tune of hundreds of millions of dollars.

His hollow promises of tax relief under LD1 and the cap on spending in Maine are now coming to fruition. But the end results are that many citizens are seeing an increase in taxes, not the decrease they were promised. How can we as citizens of the state of Maine continue to believe in our present governor? I wish that I was the only person stating this belief but today more and more Democrats are stating this, too. Please remember all of this in November.
