A new great-grandson

Priscilla and John McFarland of Gorham are proud great-grandparents of Anthony Hayden Mundy who was born on July 12 at Tri City Medical Center in Oceanside, Calif.

Anthony is the son of Kristy McFarland-Mundy and Staff Sgt. John Mundy, who is serving in Iraq with the Marines. Sgt. Mundy is based at Camp Pendleton, Calif.

Anthony’s mom is visiting her parents, Carol and Terry McFarland in Westbrook, for the holidays until Jan. 9.

Neal Durgin of Sanford is also a great-grandparent.

VFW to meet

Gorham Memorial Post 10879 of the VFW will meet at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 10. at the West Gorham Fire Station. George Gerrish is the post commander.

Lord home for Christmas

Adam Lord, son of Christopher and Christine Lord, is home for the holidays after his first semester as a freshman at Georgia Tech.

Adam finished the semester with a 4.0 average and he is playing intramural sports.

Lord graduated from Gorham High School in June as the class salutatorian.

Woman’s Club reminder

The Gorham Woman’s Club will meet on Thursday, Jan. 12, in the First Parish Congregational Church on Church Street.

Refreshments will be served at 12:30 p.m. and Mary Collins will speak at 1 p.m. Her topic will be “Elderhostel Trip to Italy.”

U.S. taxpayer debt

The Bureau of Public Debt reported on Wednesday, Dec. 21, that the U.S. public debt was $8,100,027,417,362.32. The bureau reported that the debt on Dec. 31, 2004, was $7,596,165,867,424.14.
