The Gorham Food Pantry has been serving Gorham families since 1996 by offering food assistance at no cost to Gorham residents in need. These families are the same individuals who frequent your businesses, and may even be your own neighbors and friends. You might be surprised by the number of local families who depend on our support each month.
As winter nears, many families will be faced with a difficult decision. Paying for increased energy costs or putting food on their tables. Because of a number of challenging economic factors, we anticipate an increased demand at the Food Pantry this winter.
The Food pantry relies on non-perishable food donations and community food drives throughout the year. However, this is still not enough food for our heavy demand. In order to keep our pantry shelves stocked, we purchase food each week at the Good Shepherd Food Bank in Auburn. Here, all groceries and personal care items are sold at a much reduced price. What this means is that $100 at good shepherd will actually buy over $400 in groceries for the Pantry!!
As we all prepare for this holiday season, we are hopeful you will consider supporting the many Gorham families who depend on the Gorham Food Pantry. We seek your donations, no matter how large or small, to support our efforts of helping neighbors in need. Monetary contributions are very much needed at this time and can be mailed to: 299 Main Street, Gorham. Food donations are also always appreciated and can be dropped off at Saint Anne’s Church anytime.
We wish you a Happy Holiday Season and a prosperous New Year.
