White Rock tree lit
White Rock celebrated its 20th annual tree lighting on Nov. 27 at the White Rock Community building on Wilson Road.
Santa was the center of attention and heard the Christmas wishes of the children. Santa was welcomed with Jingle Bells by members of the Fanfare Band, which played Christmas carols. Rev. Dale Malone, pastor of the White Rock Baptist Church, read the Christmas story.
The White Rock Friendship Club sponsored the event. They provided hot chocolate, punch, coffee, sandwiches and goodies. People who attended also brought treats to share with others.
The traditional tree lighting event in White Rock was the idea of Roger and Edna Gagnon. “They thought it would be nice to have a special event that the folks in the White Rock area of Gorham could gather and celebrate the holiday season,” said Frances Perry of the White Rock Friendship Club.
Perry said about 80 people attended.
