Sea Scout Ship 12 joined efforts with Boy Scout Troop 39 to collect food and supplies for the Scarborough Food Pantry, which is located at the First Congregational Church on Black Point Road. Norma Coughlin, of the Scarborough Food Pantry, said the food drive came just in time – they were in desperate need of supplies.

Ellen Parenteau of Troop 39 organized the event and said the shelves were bare just two days ago. With the rise in heating oil costs, the coming winter months will be difficult for many of the area’s working poor and those with fixed incomes. The ongoing food and cash donations that are collected are critical to help the food pantry continue its mission.

On behalf of the food drive effort, I would like to thank all of the families that so generously helped make this food drive so successful!
