Rielly a true leader

As Election Day approaches, it is once again time for all of us to actively participate in our community by choosing those who will lead our city over the next two years. The candidates who have been willing to step forward and offer their time, talent, and energy to this process should all be commended for their willingness to serve. Now we must do our part by choosing those we wish to support.

I would strongly urge the voters of Ward 1 to return Brendan Rielly to the City Council as their representative. Whether you are watching a City Council meeting or speaking to Brendan in person, it is clear that he is well prepared to deal with the issues at hand. He is an intelligent, thoughtful, articulate representative for the entire city of Westbrook. His willingness to get input on all sides of an issue before making a decision is important. More important is his willingness to stand up and change his mind when he gets new information or times change. To me, that is an indication of true leadership. With continual change facing Westbrook, the leadership and experience that Brendan offers becomes more critical by the day.

There is one other trait that Brendan displays that continually impresses me and makes me proud to have him on our City Council. Clearly there are issues that the council deals with that raise the passion of the council and the public. Brendan can certainly be passionate about issues as well. When the debate gets heated and passions are running high, Brendan conducts himself as a gentleman. He shows respect for those presenting both sides of an issue. I, for one, appreciate that.

While I respect and thank Brendan’s opponent for her willingness to serve our City, I firmly believe Brendan Rielly is the right choice in Ward 1, and I urge you to support him on Election Day. The entire city of Westbrook will benefit from that choice.
