I am writing to support Dottie Aube for Ward Four City Council. Dottie is smart, hardworking, and caring. She listens and is not afraid to lead. Dottie is the type of proven, positive leader we need to move Westbrook forward.
I trust Dottie with Westbrook’s future because she knows Westbrook’s past. Many of us grew up here, myself included. But not many of us can point to three generations of service to this city. Dottie is a lifelong resident of Westbrook and of Ward Four. She works in Westbrook as a nurse at Spring Harbor Hospital. Dottie was raised in a family where service to one’s community was highly encouraged and valued. She is running for Ward Four City Council to carry on the Aube tradition of service to this City. Her grandfather, “Husky” Aube, was the police chief of Westbrook for many years. He also played baseball for the New York Yankees with Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig, for which none of us Red Sox fans will blame Dottie (who also is a Red Sox fan). Her father, Joe Aube, was a coach, St. Hyacinth’s Parish council president, and an at-large member of the School Committee. Her mother, Rosalie Aube, has been active in the local Democratic Party and is very involved in the Catholic Community of Westbrook.
Dottie’s vision for Westbrook is a positive, exciting one of growing businesses already here, of attracting new ones, of strong schools, and of innovation. By growing Westbrook’s economy, Dottie believes we can decrease the burden on the taxpayers while preserving their quality of life.
Dottie has first-hand experience in revitalizing the Frenchtown area of Westbrook by attracting investment while still preserving and, in fact, improving some of the oldest neighborhoods in Westbrook. Dottie was a founding member of the Frenchtown Community Association and worked with other neighbors, city officials, police, and the business community to revitalize this important, historical part of Westbrook; the part Dottie has always called home. “We are a grassroots group who got together and made our voices heard,” said Dottie. “Because of this, our neighborhood changed. We have a lower rate of crime. People are moving to and investing in the area. Most importantly, we have become a neighborhood who knows and cares about each other. We actually made a difference.”
Dottie is ready to continue making a difference for all the citizens of Ward Four and of Westbrook. Please support Dottie Aube for Ward Four City Council on Nov. 8.
