The Standish Recreation Department is sponsoring a Harvest Pie Contest as well as a Halloween Party at Standish Memorial Park Sunday, Oct. 30.

Harvest Pie Contest

The fifth annual Harvest Pie Contest will be held on Sunday, October 30 in conjunction with the Halloween Party at Standish Memorial Park. We are looking for apple pies only and they will be judged on the following four aspects: texture, flavor of filling, crust and over-all appearance. There is only one pie entry per person and it must be cooled in a disposable pie plate. Drop off your pie from 2 to 2:30 p.m. at the Snack Shack at Standish Memorial Park. Judging will begin at 2:30 p.m.

Halloween Party

Come join other revelers for some spooky Halloween fun at Standish Memorial Park on Oct. 30 from 2 to 4:30 p.m. In case of rain, event will be held at G.E. Jack Elementary. Activities will include hayrides, candy hunts, scavenger hunt, relay races, greatest pumpkin contest, costume contests, pie baking contest and other games. Prizes, candy and refreshments will be provided. A costume parade for all ages starts at 3 p.m.

Register your decorated or carved pumpkin prior to 3 p.m. at the party location. Judging will take place at 4 p.m.

The cost is $3 per child. Children must be accompanied by an adult. No charge for adults. Proceeds to benefit Sebago Lake Sports Complex. For more information, call 642-2875.
