The body of Gail Milliken, a Portland bank teller who had been missing since May 30, was found Monday in her 1978 Honda Civic when it was hauled from the marsh off Pine Point Road, Scarborough. Surging waters from a weekend storm moved the car into view. The medical examiner ruled that she had drowned when her car left the road.
It’s Jimmy Carter and Walter Mondale against Ronald Reagan and George Bush at the top of Tuesday’s ballots. Four other teams are on the ballots for President-Vice President too.

Katherine J. Genthner and Donald E. Esty Jr. were married Sept. 6 in St. Mary’s Church, Westbrook. A reception followed at the Single Spur, South Windham. She is the daughter of Ernest C. Genthner, Waldoboro, and the late Mrs. Genthner. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald E. Esty Sr., 601 County Road, Westbrook. Both are graduates of the University of Maine, Orono. She is employed by the E. C. Jordan Co., Portland, and He, by Prudential Insurance Co. Wedding pictures by Del Cargill include one of them with the four-tiered wedding cake.

After a year under construction, the $4 million Yankee Lanes will open Oct. 31, offering bowlers 32 lanes at 867 Riverside Street, Portland. Portland once had five bowling alleys; now it has just this one, though there are others in the area.
United Video Cablevision is asking Windham to extend through 2005 its contract to provide cable TV service, and is offering a $300,000 extension of its wired area.
Thompson Machine, Inc., Lower Main St., Gorham, long-time dealer in Ford agricultural and construction equipment, is being liquidated.
The Scarborough Sanitary District is raising the price it charges at its sewage treatment plant for treating wastes hauled from private sewage systems. Now 4 cents a gallon, it will go to 9 cents.
Roland Albert and Roland Vincent are announcing the closing of The Men’s Shop, Westbrook and Saco, and selling their inventory of men’s and women’s clothing, more than $1 million worth. They write that they have spent their entire adult lives dressing generations of families. “Retirement Sale,” they advertise.
