In an effort to see how Westbrook can continue to grow, the city will be holding an economic development forum on Oct. 28.

City Councilor Brendan Rielly, who originally proposed the forum, said the purpose of the meeting was to bring commercial developers, real estate agents, and members of the business community to Westbrook to see what the city has to offer, and also to see what the city can do better to attract more businesses.

The forum, which will be held at One Riverfront Plaza, will run from 8 a.m. until 11:45 a.m., and will feature panel discussions with members of the community and representatives of local businesses.

The discussions will cover such topics as starting a business in the city, a look at how business has developed in the city, and what the future holds for Westbrook.

Rielly said he hoped the forum would be a good start in helping boost Westbrook’s development. “This event isn’t the end of our efforts. It’s only a beginning,” said Rielly. “But I think it is a good beginning and will give us good feedback as we continue to get better at growing our local businesses and attracting new ones. “
