Church Street Construction

This photo of Church Street looking from William Clarke Drive toward Main Street was taken during Urban Renewal.

The three-story building, known as Peter’s Tea Room and Peter’s Fruit Store, was located on Main Street at Church Street.

The one-story building was occupied by a beauty parlor known as Coiffures by Irene and the two-and-a-half story building was occupied by the Ingraham-Jack Insurance Agency. These buildings were demolished shortly after this photo was taken. Portland Savings Bank, now known as TD Banknorth, can be seen in the distance.
