Knights to meet
The Knights of Columbus, Council #2219, of Westbrook, will hold their monthly meeting at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 10, in the Parish Hall.
Bill Perham encouraged all members to attend.
Woman’s Club news
The Westbrook Woman’s Club will meet at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 18, at the Westbrook-Warren Congregational Church, 810 Main St.
Dunn to speak
Dr. Peggy Dunn will be in the pulpit at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 9, at the Westbrook Universalist Church, 719 Main St., and Meg Huber will play the music.
Vets meet to eat
The Stephen W. Manchester Post 62 of the American Legion will meet at 6 p.m. today, Oct. 5, at 17 Dunn St.
A social gathering at 5:30 p.m. will precede a meatloaf dinner. The meal will include mashed potatoes, vegetable and coleslaw with ice cream and chocolate sauce for dessert. $7.
Seniors plan dinner, meteorology talk
The Westbrook Senior Citizens will meet at noon on Monday, Oct. 17, in the Westbrook-Warren Congregational Church, 810 Main St., for an old-fashioned corn beef dinner.
Weather forecasters Tom Chisholm and Marc Mailhot will present the program. Chisholm is the chief meteorologist at Channel 8 TV and Mailhot, a hurricane expert, is the meteorologist for Cumberland County Emergency Management Agency.
Knight Colby student
Benjamin P. Knight has enrolled at Colby College in Waterville.
Before classes began, Knight took part in an orientation program, which included an introduction to the rigorous academics and the rich cultural life at Colby as well as a four-day outdoor excursion. While introducing students to the college and to state and local public service opportunities, Colby’s orientation program grouped 10 to 12 first year students so they could meet new classmates.
A graduate of Westbrook High School, Knight is the son of Margaret Knight of Westbrook and Jonathan Knight of Worcester, Mass.
