“Arsenic and Old Lace” was written by Joseph Kesselring and is directed by Michael Hjortis. It’s the perfect potion to lift your Halloween spirit. Mix zany nephew Teddy who thinks he’s Teddy Roosevelt, nephew Mortimer the manic theater critic, and Jonathan, a mad killer Boris Karloff character. Then add a generous portion of adorable and sweet Aunts Abby and Martha Brewster, plus two cups of their elderberry wine. Sprinkle the cellar with the remains of two elderly gentlemen to complete the concoction. This hilarious, macabre classic of American theatre offers outrageous characters and improbable plot twists at a non-stop pace right up to the delicious climax. Don’t miss this Schoolhouse Arts Theatre season opener.
