Delaware, Bosse engaged
Roger and Rebecca Delaware of Scarborough are pleased to announce the engagement their daughter, Bethany, to Peter Bosse, son of Louise Bosse of Frenchville.
Bethany Delaware is a graduate of the University of Maine with a degree in animal and veterinary sciences and is currently employed as a licensed veterinary technician at Falmouth Veterinary Hospital. Peter Bosse is also a graduate of the University of Maine with a degree in biological engineering and is currently employed as a quality assurance manager at Rynel, Inc. in Boothbay.
A September 2007 wedding is planned in the Orono area.
Gowen to address historians
Kathy Gowen of Westbrook will speak when the Westbrook Historical Society meets at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 5, at 17B Dunn St.
Gowen will present a program about mid 19th century clothing. Refreshments will be served. The public is invited.
Harnois to entertain seniors
Brad Harnois will entertain the Westbrook Senior Citizens at 1 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 3, in the fellowship hall at the Westbrook-Warren Congregational Church.
‘Wanted – women – alive’
The Westbrook Woman’s Club is hosting an open house for prospective new members at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 4, at Westbrook-Warren Congregational Church, 810 Main St.
The group had advertised the meeting under the banner of “Wanted – Women – Alive.” The club is extending an invitation to women who are interested in social activities, community service and civic events.
The Westbrook Woman’s Club initiated the Westbrook Together Days celebration in 1980 and gives two $1,000 scholarships and the Mary B. Stear scholarship each year to Westbrook High School seniors. Also, the club sponsors an annual art show, a Dirigo Girl’s State participant, a delegate to the Maine Youth Leadership Conference and other community projects.
The invitation is out to see at the open house how the Westbrook Woman’s Club benefits the community while enjoying good fellowship. Refreshments will be served.

Knights to meet
The Knights of Columbus Assembly #356, Westbrook, will hold their monthly meeting at 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 3, at St. Anthony’s Parish Center.
Blanchard in Universalist pulpit
Rev. Judith Blanchard will speak at the Westbrook Universalist Church, 719 Main St., at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 2.
Owen Sinclair will play the music. The church resumed services on Sunday, Sept. 25, following a summer break.
Schultz excels academically
Renate C. Schultz has received the Dean’s Award for academic excellence for the spring semester at Colgate University in Hamilton, N.Y.
Schultz, daughter of Virginia M. Schultz, is majoring in biology. She is a 2002 graduate of Westbrook High School and is a member of the Colgate class of 2006.
