Legislative Forum

United States Treasurer Anna Escobedo Cabral will visit the Sebago Lakes Region to discuss President Bush’s efforts to ensure the permanent solvency of Social Security and strengthen and preserve the system. The event is open to the business and community members of the Sebago Lakes Region. Anna will speak on the Future of Social Security and how it will affect the lives of U.S. citizens in the future.

This event will be held on October 4 from noon until 1:30 p.m. at the Montebello Ristorante, 1227 Roosevelt Trail, Route 302 in Windham. Tickets are $20 per person and reservations may be made by calling the Chamber Office at 892-8265.

Sebago Lake Region 4th Annual Live and Silent Auction

Information has been released during the past several weeks regarding the upcoming 4th Annual Live and Silent Auction to be held on October 4th at the Point Sebago Beach Pavilion, Point Sebago Road, South Casco.

This outstanding event will feature more than 250 items for the Live and Silent Auction. Current items include many popular items including a Zoom Whitening System, private ski lessons, a patio table and chairs, bicycles, a lawnmower, Apple IPOD’s, college courses, a Cuddledown comforter, health club memberships, a scooter, winter oil, gravel, many gift baskets, to name of few of the listed over 250 items.

You can definitely do your holiday and family gift shopping at this event. Live items start at $200 and the silent auction products are valued from $25 to $200. Lake Region Development Council

As a Director of the LRDC, I know many events are happening in the region. The current focus is on Route 302 including the Transportation Coalition from Fryeburg to Windham and many towns in between. The LRDC is working in coordination with the town governments in the region, and ongoing meetings are taking place in many of the towns. A 20-year plan for regional transportation is in place and if you are interested in learning more about this plan please contact the Chamber Office – 892-8265. The town of Naples has been holding monthly meetings since April and now the business and community members are forming ongoing sub-committees to move forward in the areas of Comprehensive Planning, Downtown Revitalization, Causeway Bridge reconstruction, and Naples Village long/short term plans for community growth.
