The Gorham Community Chorus is seeking new members to perform with the chorus.
Those wishing to join should go to a rehearsal at 7 p.m. on Mondays in the cafeteria at the Village School. The next rehearsal is Monday, Sept. 26. An audition is not required, but a $25 tuition fee is payable at an individual’s first rehearsal.
Patrick J. McCarthy, returning for his second year, directs the chorus. McCarthy is vocal and music teacher for the Westbrook schools. He also directs choruses and sections of the Boy Singers of Maine.
The Gorham Community Chorus traditionally performs two concerts each year – one with a Christmas season theme in early December and another in late spring. In addition to offering musical performances to the Gorham community, the chorus provides scholarships to deserving students of all ages.
The goal this year is to provide an opportunity to sing, to exercise those vocal cords and to try some new and different pieces of music. The chorus hopes to swell its ranks this year. So those with a love of singing are asked to consider joining the unique chorus.
