Cape Elizabeth trampled visiting Fryeburg Academy in the football season-opener for both teams Saturday. The contest was also the first for Cape in Class B.

Kyle Toot led the Cape charge, rushing for 203 yards and scoring four touchdowns in his team’s 54-8 win.

“We played very well and highlighted some of our athletes and team strengths,” said Cape coach Aaron Filieo

He added that, despite the score, the Capers made some “mental mistakes … and showed some signs of fatigue. These, of course, are common early-season areas to improve upon.”

Cape’s gridiron squad travels to Falmouth for a Friday night contest this week.
