The Corporate and Community Services Department of Central Maine Community College announces a new certificate program in Performance Management. The certificate is comprised of four essential skills of a great leader. The cost is $260 and includes materials. The program will run on Tuesday mornings from 8-12 p.m. and begins Sept. 27 to Oct. 18.

As managers, supervisors, or leaders of a work group or team, performance leaders help others do the work that ultimately makes an organization successful. Performance leaders are responsible for guiding and directing the performance of their employees. To accomplish this they must ensure employee performance aligns with the direction and strategy of the organization.

This series focuses on the performance management aspects of a manager’s role. Topics include: planning for performance discussions, clarifying performance expectations, correcting performance problems, and conducting performance evaluations.

This program will be taught by Debra Mattson Gouzie, MSB, MSEd. Gouzie has nearly 10 years experience working with adult learners as a coach, program designer/evaluator, workforce development trainer, and higher education teacher. She earned a master’s degree in business from Husson College in 1996 and a master’s degree from the University of Southern Maine in adult education in 2003. In addition to providing workforce development training through the Maine Community Colleges, Debra teaches Business Management and Customer Relationship Management for York County Community College.
