Nomination papers for the Cape Elizabeth municipal elections to be held in November are now available in the Town Clerk’s office. The election will decide who will fill two, three-year terms on both the Town Council and the School Board and a five-year term on the Portland Water District Board of Trustees, representing both Cape and South Portland.

Council Chairman Anne Swift-Kayatta and Councilor Jack Roberts currently hold the seats on the Town Council. Swift-Kayatta could not be reached for comment and Roberts was not ready to announce whether or not he would run for his seat again.

Katharine Ray and Henry Adams currently hold the two open seats on the School Board. Ray could not be reached for comment on whether or not she would run again.

Adams, who was elected 18 months ago to finish an unexpired term, said he would not be running again. He said he wanted to give someone else a chance, preferably someone who doesn’t have kids in the school system.

Also available are nominating papers for a trustee of the Portland Water District to represent South Portland and Cape Elizabeth. The seat now held by John Brady of South Portland is expiring. He will be running again, for his first full term. He now is filling an unexpired term vacated by a previous trustee. The Portland Water District Trustee seat will require nomination papers to also be filed with the city of South Portland.

Candidates must be 18 years old, a registered voter and collect 25 to 100 signatures from other Cape voters to appear on the ballot. Candidates for the seat on the Portland Water District Board of Trustees must gather 35 to 50 signatures.
