Deborah Gideon, a local herbalist, who lives in Raymond will lead a discussion and workshop on how to make dream pillows on Aug. 3, from 6-7:30 p.m., at the Windham Public Library. Herbal dream pillows are an ancient form of aromatherapy. Herb blends to induce sleep, dreams, and provide stress relief will be available.
Gideon has been a practicing herbalist for several years and has studied with Rosemary Gladstar and others. She has an active practice providing consultations and remedies. The workshop is free of charge, but seating is limited. Please call 892-1908 to reserve space or call Deborah at 655-2585 for more information.
Those coming should prepare first. The cloth for your pillow should be made of a tightly woven natural fiber like cotton, and if it is new, should be washed first to rid it of any sizing or odor. It can be any shape you desire (square, rectangular, round, crescent, star shaped or whatever you prefer). Sew most of it at home, leaving an opening three or four inches or so – wide enough to put your herbs inside. The finished bag should be approximately 4 inches square.
