The National Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association has recognized the Cape Elizabeth High School’s swim program for both athletic and academic achievements.

With a cumulative grade point average of 3.846, Cape’s girls swim team is ranked seventh in the nation among almost 13,000 school programs. For this accomplishment, the girls receive a gold award.

The boys team receives a bronze award for their 3.333 GPA, the 60th highest in the country.

Kaley Skapinsky and Ali Mehlsak will also receive individual All-American awards, for varsity swimmers with GPAs over 3.75.

In addition, both the boys and girls teams ranked 10th in their class in overall performance.

“I am very proud of our teams’ accomplishments,” said swim coach Kerry Kertes. “We work hard at being successful student-athletes.”
