Several foreign-language students at Cape Elizabeth high school scored at or near the top of the state rankings in national exams administered by the National Association of Teachers of French and the National Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese.

Liz Michaud, who took the level five French test, finished first in the state and 11th nationwide. Liz Cumming, who took the level three French test, was first in the state and fifth in the nation. Clare Egan took the level five Spanish test, and was the top scorer in the state and 12th nationally.

Abbey Greslick placed in the top 10 in the state in French I (8th) and Spanish V (2nd).

Other top French achievers in the state rankings were Kelsey Spratt (6th in French II), Shannon Lyons (8th in French II). Charles Gouvernali and Ashley Robinson (both 9th in French III), Erin Samenfeld-Specht (2nd in French V) and Dana Riker (8th in French V).

In Spanish, honorees were Derek Shaw (7th in Spanish I), Alicia Ciocca (9th in Spanish I), Claire Stack (8th in Spanish III), Olivia Coughlin-Weill (8th in Spanish IV). In Spanish V, Christine Catsos, Ali Mehlsak and Anna Moir were all third, with Kaley Skapinsky in fourth, Corinne Earnshaw in fifth, Danielle Beaumony in sixth and Beth Roy in seventh.
