Everyone is welcome to join Loon Echo Land Trust for its traditional hike up the Bob Chase Trail on South Bridgton’s Bald Pate Mountain on Tuesday, June 21 at 5 p.m. to celebrate the first day of summer. A short walk of 20-30 minutes brings you to the rocky summit of Bald Pate Mountain with views of the surrounding lakes and hills. A brief ceremony follows where hikers are invited to read a poem, tell a story, play a musical instrument or express a thought. Then we feast! Please bring your own snacks. This is a great start to the summer.
A special tribute will be made this year in the memory of our founder Robert Chase, who passed away this year after a long illness. Hikers should plan to meet in the Bald Pate parking lot in South Bridgton (just past Five Fields Farm as you head east on Route 107). Following the hike on Bald Pate, hikers are invited to visit Bray’s on Route 302 in Naples to celebrate the first day of summer. Proceeds from the Bald Pate Celebration Ale benefit Loon Echo land Trust.
Loon Echo Land Trust, which serves Bridgton, Denmark, Harrison, Naples, Casco, Raymond and Sebago is currently protecting more than 3,000 acres of land in the northern Sebago Lake region for recreation, education, plant and wildlife habitat, air and water quality, and sustainable forestry.
