Birthday Party (PHOTO)

Aaron Bennett celebrated his 30th birthday May 31. His aunt and uncle, Eddie and Jeanie Bennett, had a birthday cookout for him on the May 30. Those attending were: Steve Crane, his aunt Faye Heck, Leonard and Mary Sanborn Jr., girlfriend Aubrey Lajoie, his father Lloyd Bennett and Will and Marcia Blanchard. The meal was great!

Law School Graduate

Maureen Hopkins, daughter of Blaine and Karen Hopkins, graduated Cum Laude from the University of Maine School of Law on May 28. She graduated from George Washington University in 2002 with a major in Forensic Science. Maureen has already passed her bar exam and has been sworn in as a lawyer. She will reside in Windham and work as a land use consultant.

Meeting

Rebekah Lodge #71 will hold their meeting June 15. This will be the first nomination of officers. Shirley Atkinson is in charge of the program and Janet Waterhouse and Marge Hansen are in charge of the refreshments. This is the last meeting until September.

Meeting

The Hiawatha Council #58 will meet in East Sebago on June 11 at 1 p.m. There will be a luncheon prior to the meeting. This will be the visitation by the Great Pocahontas. On June 5, Elsie Haskell and Shirley Donovan of New Gloucester attended a joint meeting of the Redmen and Pocahontas at the Great Council Hall in Edgecomb.

Birthday

On May 1, Harlie Lord celebrated his 95th birthday. He enjoyed going out to dinner with family. Happy Birthday!!

Flowers

The Rotary Garden Club which meets only once a year to work on the flower gardens at the rotary will be planting on Sunday, June 12 at 9:30 in the morning. They need volunteers to help continue this voluntary beautification project that started in 1987 when Windham celebrated its 250th anniversary. For more information, contact Gary Plummer.

Sale

The Windham Historical Society will hold a book and bake sale at the election on June 14. Society members may drop off food at the headquarters before 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning or bring food to the election. All proceeds benefit the Society.

To Camp

Over the Memorial Day weekend, Elsie Haskell went to her camp on Schoodic Lake in Brownville. Joining her were Mike and Tammy Haskell, her son and daughter-in-law.
