Allison Lombardo, a Bonny Eagle High School senior, has been nominated to compete in the national Principal’s Leadership Award scholarship program, sponsored by the National Association of Secondary School Principals.
Allison is the daughter of Deborah and Santo Lombardo of Steep Falls. Sheila C. Jepson, principal, Bonny Eagle High School announced the nomination, which places Allison in the national competition. One hundred fifty national PLA winners will be chosen this spring to receive $1,000 college scholarships.
Nominees were selected based on their leadership skills, participation in service organizations and clubs, achievements in the arts and sciences, employment experience, and academic record. They also were required to write an essay.
“Each year as principal I get to select a Principal’s Leadership Award winner. As I thought about candidates for this year’s winner, Allison Lombardo came to mind. Allison is an excellent student, confident and poised,” Jepson said. “In the top 10 of her graduating class, she also plays field hockey and lacrosse and participates in a number of clubs at school (National Honor Society, Fight Against Cancer Society, and Natural Helpers). On the field hockey field she was a true leader, encouraging her teammates in victory and supporting them in defeat. What a strong young lady to have represented our school and her team in the manner that she did. As President of NHS and the Fight Against Cancer Society, I observed Allison organizing fund-raisers and participating in induction ceremonies. She was always prepared and thorough in her work. Those characteristics will take her far as she enters Worcester Polytechnic Institute in the fall.”
