South Portland High School Technology Coordinator Stephanie Estes has been invited to become an Apple Distinguished Educator. The Apple Distinguished Educator Program began in 1994, when Apple Computer identified key educators from around the globe who were emerging as leaders in the field of educational technology.
Today this community consists of over 500 educators worldwide who utilize technology to impact education at all levels from elementary through higher education.
Ms. Estes will be welcomed as one of the 63 newly selected members for the ADE Class of 2005. She will attend an Apple Distinguished Educator Summer Institute in San Jose California in July, where she will have the opportunity to collaborate with other teachers from all over the world to exchange ideas and information about the effective use of new technologies in the creation of engaging learning environments that will promote student achievement and academic scholarship.
Ms. Estes was hired as technology coordinator at the beginning of this school year. She has a master’s degree in computer technology education from Thomas College and has been working with staff and students to bring technology into the classrooms in effective and creative ways.
