On 5/3/05 at 11:51 am the South Portland Police Department received a report of a Robbery at the Mill Creek Branch of the Norway Savings Bank. Employees of the bank reported that a subject had pulled into the drive-through area and sent the teller a note demanding money, through the pneumatic tube system. The subject did not receive any money and left the scene. Employees were able to provide a description of the subject, the vehicle involved and its registration plate.
At 11:53 am Officer Kevin Battle, of the S.P.P.D., located the vehicle involved, on the Casco Bay Bridge. Battle conducted a traffic stop and took the subject into custody without incident.
This subject has been identified as Chamrone Kien 24 years of age of Portland. Kien is currently being held at the Cumberland County Jail on a charge of Robbery, Class A. Due to the ongoing investigation we are not able to release his photo at this time.
