The MSAD #6 elementary librarians are pleased to announce that authors Steven Swinburne and Peter Lourie will be visiting all MSAD #6 elementary schools in March. The authors will be working with children in elementary schools on March 28th, 29th, and 30th and will also be doing a presentation for the community on the evening of March 29th. These author visits are made possible by a generous grant from the Narragansett Number One Foundation.
Swinburne will speak to students in grades K-3. His presentations will include a tour of some of his books for children as well as the stages of development of a book from the original idea through the publishing process including writing, editing, and rewriting.
Lourie will work with older students in grades 4-5. In his ‘Adventure Presentations,’ using slides and narrative, he takes students down one of America’s great rivers. Lourie’s works include books on the Mayan and Incan cultures, as well as chronicles of his river trips down the Mississippi and the Hudson.
On Tuesday evening, March 29 at 7 p.m., the authors will offer a presentation free of charge for the community in the auditorium of Bonny Eagle High School. At that time, books will be offered for sale and the authors will be able to sign books.
