On Our Planet Community School on Ocean House Road in Cape Elizabeth has received accreditation from the National Association for the Education of Young Children – the nation’s leading organization of early childhood professionals. The pre-school opened nine years ago.

“We’re very proud being the first in Cape Elizabeth and one of the few in Southern Maine to be accredited by the NAEYC, and recognized for our commitment to reaching the highest professional standards,” said Dena Frazier, owner and director of On Our Planet.

NAEYC created its accreditation program in 1985 to set professional standards for early childhood education, and to help families identify high-quality child care and early education programs. To become accredited by the NAEYC programs must complete a meticulous self-study and external review by an independent, professional validator to demonstrate they meet standards of quality and excellence in early childhood education, and then are reviewed by a national panel. Programs are accredited by the NAEYC for a five-year period.
